Hey, James here…
Who is a James Jamerson fan?
Jamerson in my mind is the godfather of modern eclectic bass playing.
He undoubtedly paved the way for guys like Jaco Pastorious. Marcus Miller and Rocco Prestia with his work on Motown Records in the 1960s.
So for Part 3 of the my new ‘Reacts & Analyses Series’ it’s time to take apart my all time favourite James Jamerson Bass Line:
What’s Goin’ On by Marvin Gaye
For me this is an iconic piece of bass history… and always blows my mind.
So this is an absolute privilege to share my insights on this track with you…
Also… if you’re enjoying this series make sure you let me know in the comments what other tracks you’d like to see me take apart - I’d love to know.
Keep on groovin’ hard,
James
