Hey, James here!
The thing I love about the bass guitar, is the creative freedom you have on how to play a certain fill or break. You can play it a hundred different ways, but it will never be "wrong", as long asyou have the purpose of serving the song.
I've been gigging the song "Car Wash" by Rose Royce now for the best part of 25 years. It's an incredible tune to play. But one thing I've discovered is if you ask ten different bass players how they play that slap bass break, you'll probably get eleven different answers. So I'm going to do something a little different in today's video: I'm just going to show you how I play it on a gig. And I'm also going to show you two further slap bass breaks that I play when I'm gigging this song.
See you next week for more lessons!
