When I was 15 years old, my bass guitar teacher, Dave, brought out this beautiful piece of handwritten manuscript in his beautiful handwriting, photocopied it, and gave it to me. At the top of it, it said, "The Chicken". Little did I realize that over 25 years later, I would still be playing this bass line.
So for today's lesson, I prepared 5 reasons why "The Chicken" bass line by Jaco Pastorius is genius and why every bass player should learn it. Not only I broke down the iconic bass line, but also showed the different ways you can improvise and groove to it. I'm sure this bass line will be as useful and timeless for you as it is for me!
