Over the last five or six years of gigging, I've noticed an interesting trend. More and more, people are asking if I use a wireless guitar system. They want musicians to roam and engage with the crowd, which makes total sense. Despite the growing demand, I've never owned a wireless system until now. I can’t say for sure if I've missed out on gigs because of it, but I do know that having a reliable wireless system will open up more opportunities moving forward.
Here's the exciting part: wireless systems have become much more affordable over the past decade. Enter the Xvive U2, which is priced at just $149. However, there has been a particular issue for us bass players when using wireless gear, and I’ll discuss how to solve it later in the video.
One of my main concerns about using wireless equipment is the potential impact on my tone. It's been over 20 years since I last used a wireless system, and back then, they sounded terrible unless you invested a lot of money. To address this, I'll be conducting four tone tests in this review. I'll compare the sound quality of a traditional cable setup with the Xvive U2. Additionally, I’ll provide a brief overview of what’s included in the box.
