Hey, James here!
Country bass playing often has the reputation of being simple, straightforward, and "just roots and fifths". So I set up a challenge to write what I think could be the most complex country bass line ever. I want to teach you this bass line and see if you can play it!
Interestingly, it only uses two fingers on your fretting hand, and one finger on your plucking hand. But despite this, you can also use this effectively in an 8-bar sequence. Neat, right?
No matter what stage of learning you are in, it is always important to step out of your comfort zone and test your limits... This is the perfect challenge for you to do just that!
I'd love to see your versions of this challenge. If you're one of my Bass Lab Plus students at eBassGuitar, make sure to download the backing track from the Backing Track Vault to try all the concepts in this lesson. Record yourself playing it, and share it in our Club Room!
Was this country bass line as challenging as it sounds? Share some thoughts in the comments!
I'll see you next week!
James
