Hey, James here!
I’ve got a special guest today—eBassGuitar coach Toby Newcombe. One of the things I always ask our guests on the eBassGuitar YouTube channel is: What are your favorite morning coffee warmup drills? Today, Toby has selected five of his favorite warmup drills to share with you. These exercises are fantastic for both beginners and advanced players alike.
The most important thing with these drills is that they train your fingers to do exactly what your brain tells them to do. That’s the key. Additionally, it’s important to remember that everything about the bass guitar is massive: the headstock, the strings, and the frets. It takes a lot of control to consistently create good notes and maintain a steady groove.
These drills will help you improve your timing, tone, sound, strength, and much more. They’re a fantastic way to start your day with a morning coffee!
Before you get on with the video, I want you to download the completely free PDF that accompanies this lesson which includes all these drills written out in standard notation and tablature.
What's your favorite bass guitar warm-up out of the five? Let me know in the comments!
See you next week for more lessons!
