Hey, James here!
If you've been following my channel for a while, you know I love a good challenge. Today, I'm taking on a new one, and I'm doing it live on camera. It all started with a simple request I made to one of our eBassGuitar coaches, Toby Newcombe.
I asked Toby to come up with five bass fills that would work over any style of music for any song, and he told me that these bass fills will be "universal in my future playing." That's quite a claim!
But hey, you know me—I’m always up for pushing the boundaries. With no idea what Toby had up his sleeve, we decided to dive in headfirst. The plan was to jam, riff off each other, and create some grooves. Our mission? To uncover simple, yet powerful, bass fills that you can easily integrate into your own playing.
The Importance of Bass Fills
As a bassist, having a variety of fills ready to go is essential. Whether you're playing in a band, jamming with friends, or practicing solo, these fills add flavor and keep the music interesting. The beauty of the fills we aimed to create was their simplicity and versatility. They didn't need to be complex; they just needed to work.
