Fretless bass sounds really cool and expressive, but you've got to be careful. Adding a little extra something can make a song better, but too much can mess it up.
One of eBassGuitar's VIP coaches, Freddie Draper, has been playing fretless bass for 15 years. He started with the big upright bass, but when he moved to London for gigs at restaurants and tours, it was too hard to carry around. So, he switched to fretless bass. It sounds a lot like the big one, which is awesome, but there are some things you need to know.
