What's your name, where are you from, and how long have you been playing the bass guitar?
My name is Rado Likar, and I am from Slovenia. I have been playing bass guitar on and off for about ten years, but it wasn’t until recently that I started to take it more seriously.
Can you tell us about your musical background?
It started at the age of six when I started learning to play the accordion. I then attended music school, studying piano from ages seven to twelve. By seventeen, I was dabbling in acoustic guitar with friends for fun. Soon after, I formed a band in grammar school, playing the bass guitar and keyboard. Our setlist included classics like "Yummy, Yummy" by Ohio Express and "Love is All Around" by The Troggs.

What sparked your interest in the bass guitar?
Although my band didn’t last long, my interest in the bass was ignited. Over the years, I found myself fixated on bass guitar players. This growing fascination led me to buy a Cort T34 bass about ten years ago, but my playing remained sporadic.
When & What made you join The Bass Lab PLUS?
Everything changed in November 2022 when I discovered James Eager and joined Bass Lab PLUS. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in my bass-playing. My motivation to join stemmed from my desire for a more structured learning experience. I realized that practicing randomly wasn’t yielding the results I wanted. I saw the potential in a structured program and decided to give it a shot.

How has the Blues Bass Accelerator program impacted your bass playing?
The Blues Bass Accelerator program provided me with a wealth of resources. This comprehensive material was exactly what I needed to improve my skills. I practiced diligently, often multiple times a day in short, focused sessions. Although some levels of the program were challenging, I persisted, refining my skills through repeated practice. My finger techniques improved significantly, especially the speed and activation of my right-hand fingers. By the end of the program, even my third and fourth fingers, which were initially inactive, began to
contribute spontaneously.
How did you stay motivated throughout the program?
I stayed motivated by recognizing my gradual improvements despite challenges with time management. Two weeks for creating a video that met my own criteria was sometimes too short, but recognizing improvements, step by step, I decided to continue. I practiced many times a day for quite a short period, which means 20 - 30 minutes. Then I left my music room and returned again later.
How important was feedback from instructors and peers in your development?
Feedback from instructors and peers played a crucial role in my development. Although the compliments are certainly appreciated and serve as further encouragement, the instructor's critical perspective is far more significant. It indicates the path for additional advancements. The feedback I received helped me understand what I needed to work on and how to improve further.
How did it feel to be named the most improved student in the Blues Bass Accelerator program?
Being named the most improved student was a pleasant surprise. I humbly acknowledged the presence of more experienced players but attributed my success to my methodical approach and daily practice. I did not expect that the eBassGuitar team would find me as the most improved student because there were some more experienced and consequently better bass players. However, very few of us submitted all six of the necessary videos on time.
What would you say to anyone thinking of joining the Blues Bass Accelerator program?
Hey bass players! I highly recommend the Blues Bass Accelerator program. James provides all the tools you need, but you have to put in the work. The classes focus on what you need to start playing quickly and understanding the bass's role in a band. Blues Bass Accelerator is the best way to get started at your own pace. It's the go-to course for beginners.
